![]() The next product ("not an upgrade, but a whole new product") will be announced soon, then they will abandon Neo and its users. Unless they have finally started listening to customers. I would be pleased, but surprised if this happens. If you look at their product page Neo is the only app for sale: They will probably add camera support for some time. I read that Skylum is committed to Neo as all future updates will appear as either core improvements or additional etensions.ĪI is a legacy product and will not be receiving future feature updates. Sometimes applying a sky will take a few seconds. I have not found template application to be at all slow, but I have a new gaming-capable computer that was acquired primarily to handle Topaz Labs demanding software. If you want to run either as a plugin out of Lightroom, you should have 32 meg of memory. I have both and generally head to AI, unless I need a Neo feature, such as wire removal. Neo has more features than AI, but AI is fine for most photos, particularly landscape and is a little bit easier to use. Is there a reason, other than price, for me to upgrade from Luminar 4 to Luminar AI, instead of Luminar Neo? What I meant is Luminar products combine several steps needed in LRC and so it is faster in that fashion. I am currently re-assessing Luminar AI and found that at version 1.5.3, it is significantly faster than Neo when applying templates. Please use it in "Single Image Edit" mode or as plug-in to LrC. However some of the templates are beautiful.ģ6K images may crash the Luminar thumbnail view. Luminar Neo may not be able to speed up your processing. Luminar Neo serves different purposes than LrC. What are your main issues with Luminar Neo? As an example, I imported my 36K images to Luminar catalog and it crashed right away.ĭoes the new Luminar Neo allow me to use other photo editing software? I have a powerful Windows PC and I can't remember the last time LRC crashed. My main concern on Luminar products is that they are buggy and crash from time to time. I organize my images in a way that is easy for me to find previous images. (Learning Photoshop is just too time consuming for an amateur.) Is it realistic to consier using Liminar Neo to replace LRC? Or is it still better suited as a plugin? Note that I don't use keywords or other attributes in LRC catalog. The main reasons for thinking about upgrading Luminar are that it can speed up my photo editing and it has extra features that LRC does not have. Should I upgrade to Luminar Neo? Could it replace the LRC? Sometimes, I would use Topaz DeNoise/Sharpen AI, Luminar 4, PortraitPro, etc., as external edit tools. What are your thoughts on Luminar Neo? I mainly use LR Classic. ![]()
